BEIJING, March 11 - China produced 54.31 million tonnes of crude steel in February, up 9.7 percent from the same month last year, according to official data from China's National Bureau of Statistics on Friday.
Total output over January and February hit 114.18 million tonnes, or 1.935 million tonnes per day, rising from 1.66 million tonnes in December, according to Reuters calculations.

Despite a week-long holiday to mark the Lunar New Year, daily output in February stood at 1.94 million tonnes, up from 1.93 million tonnes in January.
February's output would amount to more than 700 million tonnes when calculated on an annualised basis.
Analysts have attributed the strong production figures to China's small, private steel mills, which have ramped up output in the first two months of the year after shutting down to comply with an energy-saving campaign in the second half of 2010.
Prices on the domestic market have been on the decline after hitting a peak in early February, with the industry blaming long-standing overcapacity problems as well as uncertainties about demand. [ID:nTOE729043]
China also produced 63.54 million tonnes of steel products in February, down from 97.84 million tonnes in December.
Iron ore output in February reached 72.45 million tonnes, down from 73.79 million tonnes in January and 98.21 million tonnes in December.
